2018: A Celebration of Family and Community
Trucchi’s 90th Anniversary was commemorated with a new modern T-Shirt available for personnel and customers. T-shirts were shipped to friends and family as far away as California, France and Francavilla Bisio Italy.
The T-Shirts boasted Trucchi’s “Your Hometown Store” on the front, “90 YEARS” under the Trucchi’s heart logo; appropriately printed on each sleeve. “2018 A Celebration of Family and Community” was kicked off throughout the city of Taunton where Trucchi’s was founded as a thank you to loyal customers and dedicated personnel.
The celebration throughout the city of Taunton began at the Trescott Street Gallery’s CITYSCAPES Opening Night Saturday, May 5th, from 6:30-8:30 pm, 8 Trescott Street. A special Trucchi’s Time Capsule exhibit was on display at the gallery through May 26th. Official cake cutting ceremonies were planned for Sunday, May 6th. On Thursday, May 10th, original memorabilia was on view at the The Old Colony History Museum, 66 Church Green. A slideshow of memories was shown 6:00-7:00 pm.
It was discovered this year while the family was researching for the upcoming 90th Anniversary the opening date and early beginnings were hand written, in Italian, in a pocket-sized journal kept by William M. Trucchi Sr.’s mother, Elisa Trucchi. The original opening date was July 1, 1928. William always said he was sixteen but he was only fifteen years old. He did not turn sixteen until a couple months later, in September.
