Collecting Now...

Donations for Stuff the Bus and Stuff the Truck will be collected over the month of October through Thanksgiving in 2020. 

We are unable to hold our "STUFF" events in their traditional manner this November. We are working closely with each locations food pantry partners to support their food pantry levels and distribution expectations, during this time. The landscape of our local food pantries has changed dramatically.  Some have closed. Others are operating with less volunteers and are seeing more guests in need of food assistance.    

Taunton  Greater Taunton Charitable is unable to host Stuff the Bus this year. During this time a network of community organizations in Taunton are working together to provide some semblance of the program during November 2020. The organizations that have stepped up look forward to a time the event will resume being hosted by Greater Taunton Charitable Association when it is safe and appropriate.   

HOW Stuff the Bus/Truck Events started at our locations...

Trucchi’s Supermarkets hosted their first “STUFF THE BUS” food drive in Taunton to benefit Greater Taunton Charitable Association (GTCA) in 2015. Buses provided by Bloom Bus were be parked at Trucchi’s Supermarkets, located at 53 Tremont Street, the Saturday and Sunday preceding Thanksgiving.

Volunteers from GTCA and many local organizations were on hand to collect donations of food, money and gift cards. A time consuming process of sorting donations was completed at the stores on the buses before they make their way to GTCA’s facility. Once the food arrived at GTCA facility volunteers were on hand to immediately prepare collected items for distribution.

The following year with the insight and blessing of GTCA Trucchi’s replicated the event for the first time with community CAN Hunger! food pantry partners at each Trucchi’s store location. The drives were extremely successful for the food pantry partners they benefited in other towns Abington, Middleboro, West Bridgewater and city of New Bedford. Trucchi’s has continued making the commitment in each year to run the  drives at all locations.

Since 2016 all Trucchi’s locations have hosted a “Stuff the Truck” or “Stuff the Bus” over TWO weekends, FOUR days and SIX locations. Each event draws on the support of numerous community partners in addition to the pantries themselves and is distinctive of the stores’ “Hometown”.
