7 Foods You Wouldn’t Think To Grill

Its time to dust off those grills! Try throwing these foods on the grill for something a little different…

1. Pound Cake

Add an unfamiliar yet sensational taste to your dessert. Grill slices of Pound Cake, then add fresh cut up Fruit. Top it off with a scoop of Lemon Sorbet for an unbelievably refreshing dessert.

2. Olives

Grilling Olives? Yes, it is possible…and man are they good! Here’s how its done. Preheat your grill to Medium High heat. Toss the Olives with minced garlic, along with fresh herbs like Rosemary and Thyme. (You can get creative here and try adding different varieties of Sea Salts we carry in select store locations). Add a bit of Olive Oil to help the herbs stick to the olives. Grill the olives in a grill basket, rolling frequently to evenly cook. Once the olives start to get tender (about 6 to 8 minutes) remove from the grill. Serve as an appetizer.

3. Pineapples

Fire up your grill and make these Sweet Caramelized Grilled Pineapple. The brown sugar compliments the sweet and juiciness of the fruit.

4. Romaine Lettuce

We have experimented with grilling many different foods over the years. But we never even considered grilling lettuce. Slice Romaine Hearts in half lengthwise, cutting right through the core. Preheat your grill on Medium High. Brush all sides with Olive Oil and season with salt and pepper. Grill for 2 to 3 Minutes per side or until nicely charred.

5. Grilled Cheese

Okay, so this may not be something you’d expect on this list. But despite its name, have you ever really used an actual grill to make a Grilled Cheese sandwich? Growing up in our house, we always used a skillet and made it over the stove. Slice an Avocado in half and place the cut side face down on the grill grates. Cut up the grilled avocado into slices. Add over your bread topped with fresh slices of Mozzarella Cheese. Add some Pomegranate seeds to add a little sweet flavor. Grill until cheese has melted and bread is golden brown.

6. Watermelon

There are so many fruits you can enjoy on the grill, but these slices of Sweet Honey Grilled Watermelon are truly one of our favorite snacks.

7. Pepperoni & Pizza

Give your Quesadilla or Pizza that amazing smoky flavor from the grill. You may never go back to using the oven again! You can also cut up a Pepperoni Stick into small chunks and grill them as a topping or a tasty snack!
