While the Christmas season may be the “most wonderful time of the year”, it can also be the most chaotic and stressful! Avoid having any holiday meltdowns by staying organized with these Holiday Prep tips. Here are things you can get started on 2 Weeks before Christmas.
Clean your Kitchen
Scrub your fridge. You will want to start with your refrigerator to rid any excess goods that may have expired or are no longer needed to give you extra room for all of your holiday needs. Wash down the shelves and organize remaining food by category so that while your preparing your holiday meal, products are easily found.
Clean your cabinets. Go about this in the same manner as the refrigerator. Starting with removing expired goods, cleaning, and then organizing. You will want to organize your shelves by like items and frequency of use. Items you use most frequently should go closest to eye level and then get higher due to infrequency of use.
Plan Your Menu
Before you make your shopping list and head to the store, decide exactly what dishes you are going to make. Certain recipes may call for unexpected ingredients. Be sure that you have enough of everything as well. You may have Sugar or Flour, but the last thing you want is to run out of an ingredient in the middle of cooking. Remember to grab some Tupperware Containers and aluminum foil to wrap up leftovers for your guests. Make your grocery list…and check it twice!
Make sure you place your orders for Platters and Party Pans in advance for one less thing to worry about.
If you’re hosting the holiday get together, remember you do not have to prepare all your dishes in one day. There are many foods you can prepare ahead of time and freeze.
Make a large batch of Cookie Dough and scoop them onto a lined baking sheet. Pop them into the freezer for about 4 to 6 Hours. Transfer from the baking sheet into a Ziploc Bag and place back into the Freezer. When its time for you to bake some cookies simply pop them in the oven (add a minute or two to the baking time). This is a HUGE time saver!
