School time is always an exciting time of the year for the kiddos! They get to go back to school and see all of their friends as well as adjust back into their normal routine. We have a few back to school lunch recipes to make them feel like the coolest kids in school and help maintain a healthy diet! Remember: Food is Fuel!
First is our No-Bake Chewy Granola Bars. These bars are tasty and still are a low fat snack option. They are a wholesome brown bag snack that’s satisfying but not too sweet. The added granola gives them a bit of crunch, and the cashew butter makes them extra moist. If you are a real foodie, you may substitute corn syrup with agave nectar to really clean up the ingredients.
As for the main entree of their lunch box, you can get creative with your sandwiches! Instead of just slapping two pieces of white bread together try breaking into your old cookie cutters. This is a creative way to satisfy your picky eaters who won’t always eat the crust!
Another idea is to mix up your sandwich. Use your camping skewers and layer meat, cheese, and bread to create a sandwich s’more! This will keep the kids reminiscing about their fun times with you in the summer around the campfire and they will be the “cool kid” at the lunch table for sure.
Give yourself a break once and a while, and pick up a pre packaged snack to go in the sack. Many companies now make smaller portioned bags to save you the hassle of separating the contents into sandwich bags. If you are worried about nutritional value, many brands have 100 calorie packs so you don’t have to be hung up on hidden calories.
