MIDDLEBORO — Trucchi's has scheduled the grand opening of its Middleboro store for March 18, with ribbon-cutting ceremonies to be followed by day-long activities.

The much-awaited event was announced this week. Trucchi's CFO Ann Trucchi Condon said plans are still being finalized, but the day will include activities for children, demonstrations and raffles. Festivities will continue in the following days and weeks, Ms. Condon said.

The store will be open from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. on opening day and every Sunday. Hours of operation with be 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

It was announced last fall that Trucchi's would replace Stop & Shop in the shopping plaza on Rte. 28 near the rotary circle, and that the new store would employ about 150 people.

The Taunton Federal Credit Union has announced it will open a branch in the supermarket.

The store is the sixth for the Raynham-based, family owned supermarket chain Trucchi's employs about 800 people at two locations in Taunton and single stores in Abington, New Bedford and West Bridgewater.
